[Plugin] Boolean--OSCoolean (Oct 2010) for SU 8 free version

Re: Boolean--OSCoolean Beta (18/12/2008)

Postby narongwit12 » Wed Jul 15, 2009 2:59 am

Thank you very much for this brilliant rb. Would you mind to share us the brief idea of the mechanism of this plugin? I want to do a union thing, but find it quite hard to do it without any guide.

Best regards

For those who are saying nothing happens, well, you have to make each object a group/component. I was having the same problems like some of you until i made each object separate from eachother. When you place them together you choose one object then right click to the plugin and choose "cut" and depending of which object you chose you'll get the "negative" or "positive" cut. Although, I think there is a bug when you place an object in a severe angle inside, it tends to cut almost all of the opposite object leaving expose in the air only the hole that the other object traced. I wonder if the creator of this plugin is still working on the new release.

just out of curiosity how does the OSCoolean differ from the commercial booltools plugin?

For the information of te "rest of the World", Oscarlok updated the plugin (see the first post as of October 2010) for SU 8.

He just forgot to add a new post or bump the topic otherwise.

OSCAR

In your Oct release, only three icons are displayed. And the last two, cut and intersect perform the same function.

Thanks for your work with this plugin.

I do not have Sketchyphysics. Must be some other tool. I will try to run it with the console on, capture and post back.

ComponentInstance doesn't have an entities method - you need to access the definition.
There are some plugins that adds .entities to ComponentInstance and I've seen some other plugins that also made the assuption taht this method existed.

Hi, ThomThom:
Thanks for your quick response.
Unfortunately, you're talking way over my head
I mean, I see what you're writing but I don't know what I'm reading

What means 'grocom' ??

Thanks for this, very excited. I just upgraded to 8 for this, but the plugin isn't showing up. Are there any dependencies or known conflicts that could be at fault?

My Sketchup 8 plugins folder only has the folders Oscar, Cadspan, JPP_Dir_15, LIBFREDO6_Dir_34, Ocean, TIGtools, TOS_Dir_16 plus Utilities, plus the rb files OSCoolean, deBabelizer, extrubeEdgesby(various things), jointpushpull, LibFredo6, LibTraductor, loop_subdiv, ocean_extension, su2stl, ZLoader_OnSurface and utilities, if that for some reason makes it obvious to anyone. I'm on 7 Pro.

Thank you very much, whether or not you can point out what's wrong!

Do you have the Oscar folder inside your plugins folder in 8?
or try to unzip the OSCoolean again into your plugins folder in 8, please.

Oscar :)
