Animation/Easing Files?

Postby Jim » Sat Oct 03, 2009 10:20 pm

I didn't happen to send my animation/easing works-in-progress to anyone, did I?

Yes I did, but was able to recover a version of it.

Looks very promising, Jim. :thumb:
Can you drop any details about this project?
And BTW, you can use Google Docs to backup your code. It has a revision tool so you can check what changed between versions.

Miguel,

It's just something I did for fun. The main thing I did was add these Penner easings (tweening, or whatever) to the animations, so you will be able to select the type of movements between key frames (Pages) for the camera and other objects. You saw the Bounce Out in the video, but there are a number of other easings:

I was going to work this into either proper animation or the mover plugin, or both.

That's really cool, Jim, as those two rubies show promise but haven't seen any action lately.

I have noticed that the Proper animation plug-in already seems to be using some kind of easing in/out. If you check my "Motion Blur tests" in the Twilight forum you'll notice that the motion of the soccer ball actually started slow and then accelerated progressively, and that's why it left a more persistent "ghost" of the starting position:

I have also noticed that the motion in proper animation does not span the whole scene transition, but only a part of it, so I think I'll be using Mover.rb for future motion blur tests, as it is more predictable.

It was actually very easy to integrate the easings into Mover. I will have a demo in a few minutes. Even if my easings module is a mess...

Give it a try..
