[Plugin] 2D Tools v5.3 20120929

Postby TIG » Sun Sep 20, 2009 9:10 pm

This is v5+ of my 2D Tools set... Read the 'htm' guide for details...
www.youtube.com Video from : www.youtube.com

Edit: v2.1 20090920 2D Line Style Tool updated - The 'name' of edited styled-line groups now correct - this makes selection of styled-lines in the Outliner for bulk context-menu editing much easier. Remember to keep the Outliner window rolled-up during the editing as it slows things down considerably or even bugsplat otherwise...
v2.2 20090920 LineStyle/Text Color Lists now 'made unique'.
v2.3 20090921 Layer set_visibilty bug fixed. Each edited Styled-Line put on same layer as original. The one too many Styled-Lines in looped polyline now fixed. CadFather's alternative toolbar icon set also included - replace Icons folder with this if desired...
v2.4 20090921 LineStyle failure with no scenes/pages fixed. Z-plane inferencing improved. Rectangle drawing clipping fixed up to 1km. Help in MHT for PC is now also in PDF for Mac users, and also as DOC too.
v2.5 20090921 Clipping fixed for ALL tools with Tool.getExtents [thanks to NewOne's ideas...]
v2.6 20090923 Line inferencing and tooltips improved. Circle VCB messages improved or corrected. Hatching error/glitch fixed. Text error with SUp<7 fixed.
v2.7 20090923 New 2D Polygon Tool added. Similar to 2D Circle BUT can specify number of sides NNs, length of a Side NNNx OR Radius NNN... 2D Circle tool alignment to second-picked point corrected. Help files updated. New tool's Icons added - also CADfather's alternative set updated temporarily until he adds his own...
v2.8 20090924 Rotation of ghost-ngon/circle matches final one.
v2.9 20090925 Line mid-point inference glitch fixed.
v3.0 20091002 General re-write to improve robustness, 'Help' in htm format for all, 'Adjust Tool' added...
v3.1 20091002 Glitch if you cancelled the initial dialog in 'Hatching' fixed.
v3.2 20091008 Changes to all tools: All file-paths made 'relative' rather that absolute. Z-plane value now displayed on VCB prompt of all 2D Tools' using it. Z-plane Tool can now be set absolute, or relative to existing value. Line Tool VCB value glitch fixed and double-click to end improved. Z-plane changeable during Line Tool by pressing <Tab> key. Arc Tool VCB/inferencing improved. LineStyle Tool now also works with drag-selection and also in 3D: Styled-Line now placed 'inside' the perimeter of single or not co-normal face [with normal nearest to camera view-line]. Make Face and Hatching Tool more precise in affecting extg faces not on Z-plane. Adjust Tool's trimming of Circles/Poygons/Arcs improved. [Note: Arc Extension not available (yet)] - see 'Help' htm for full details of all changes...
v3.3 20091008 Typo in 'tidyup' folder path fixed...
v3.4 20091010 Adjust Tool now allows 'Lone Arc Extension' as well as Trim etc. NOTE: This Lone Arc Extend Mode is in its first beta release and might be prone to error – please save before using and feedback any details that will improve its development...
v3.5 20091014 Hatching Tool made v6/XP friendly. Adjust to Arcs changed to individual Segments. 2D Text now has a Snap setting for Z-plane or All-Faces.
v3.6 20091014 2D Text toolbar icon updated with 'T' !

v4.0 20091122 'Debabelizer' added to all tools to ease locale language translation of text/dialogs/prompts/menus etc.
ES and FR versions of lingvo [translation] files supplied in zip.
ES version of 2D Tools-Help htm etc supplied in zip.
2D Tools-Help expanded to cover recent changes and also to explain how to customize Help-htm and lingvo files to your locale; 2D Tools-Help now opens a locale suffixed version if it exists.
2D Line-Style now offers user defined 'Custom Styles' by defining dots+spaces patterns; glitches whilst working inside groups fixed.
2D Text miscellaneous glitches fixed.
2D Face-Maker and 2D Hatching glitches whilst working inside groups fixed.
v4.1 20091124 Minor corrections to Help.htm images etc.
v4.2 20091125 Minor changes to a few strings [in Adjust/LineStyle/Tidyup and lingvo files] that weren't translating.
v4.3 20091126 LineStyle Dialog now has Inch OR mm Widths depending on Model's Units. The Help htm files updated to suit.
v4.4 20100202 LineStyle - rare glitch, some dot patterns with 'spare' dot trapped. Glitch in edit [inch/mm] fixed.
v4.5 20100215 Lingvo files tidied and rare db def glitch fixed.
v4.6 20100220 FR lingvo updated by Didier Bur. Glitch in Toolbar/Menu db deBabelizing fixed.
v4.7 20100923 MAC TAB-key press glitch trapped - key-up check instead of key-down in 2DlineTool. MAC 'help' fixed.
v4.8 20100923 Glitch in 2D Text Edit fixed. Glitch in 2D Line Style Edit fixed.
v4.9 20100924 The 'db' glitch fixed in zPlane tool.
v5.0 20100927 The db arguments etc are parenthesized in (). Various minor glitches in text etc have been addressed. The ES lingvo & help files have also been updated etc - many thanks to Defisto for his nit-picking that goaded me into the update! CadFather's new toolbar button icon set is also include if you want to swap over to that...
v5.1 20111201 Newly reported glitch fixed with 2dLine, so that now pressing the keyboard '0' when typing in a number on a PC doesn't mistake for TAB >> Z-height!
v5.2 20120228 2dFillet segment range adjusted to >=2 <=999.
v5.3 20120929 2dFillet now side-steps potential splats by ill-mannered 3rd party tools' EntitiesObservers.
###
Tool now supplied in RBZ format for >=v8M2 users to auto-install via the Preferences > Extensions > button AND ZIP format for manual installation... choose your weapons...

Awesome update TIG! Thanks! You've brought line weight and styles to SU!!!!! Setting the Z plane and toggling to construction lines were things I asked for initially....thanks for implementing them!!!

Does the Z-Plane set the elevation the lines are drawn on, or is it also possible to define a plane that's different than the standard axis?

Only on a flat Z-plane - these are 2D Tools... :)
Although some like Fillet work in '3D' too...

2D, yes - just wondered if you could specify the 2D work-plane arbitrary - not just top-down from the world axis.

Hi TIG, how difficult would a double click to fillet all the corners be? (or something similar)

also: is text tag now redundant?

Fillet tool is a nice addition. Thank you TIG!
P.S.I have 2 sets of the same icons on one tollbar. How to solve it?

TextTag works similarly but sticks onto on 3D Faces and has a few more options like 'face_camera'...
The fillet tool works by picking two edges so your idea might be difficult ?

Please ensure that earlier folders and 2D .rbs have been removed - perhaps (re)do a 'clean' install ?

Check you have materials to show mode is set 'on' - i.e. face materials show up... Check View/Hidden-Geometry is 'off'.
Start the linestyle tool, right-click in empty space, in the dialog that opens set the style to a line-width you know will show up at the size of model (default=1, if the edges are very long than perhaps =6, very small =.25 ???) and then style='Dashed' and color='Red' - so it'll be clearly distinguishable from the original edge. Pick an edge - that edge should get moved onto the ...HIDN layer [and disappear as it's switched 'off'] and a new dashed styled-line 'group' should be made and appear on the ...STYL layer ? Open the Outliner to see what groups you have... Get Entity Info on the edge and new group to check what happens...
Run the tool with the Windows/Ruby Console open and copy/paste us any error messages that you get, if it persists...
Consider posting a small [purged] model with the problem if it's not fixed ?

Wonderful set of tools. :enlight: I'm not a McDonand's fan, but this time i must say: I'm lovin' It!
However, one thing is annoying. As you can see in attached image, the line is clipped when drawing (the mouse cursor is not seen, but this img was captured while drawing with 2d rectangle tool). I think this is because the drawing gets out its boundingbox and if that boundingbox is updated on mouse move, this clipping will not occur anymore.
One more thing: could Set Z-Plane tool to have inference? I'd like to be able to snap on vertexes and edges.

Thanks again for all the tools you made!.

dedmin

I see from the video it's not working... The ...HIDN layer should turn off if you have it 'on'. I suspect it's something to do with scenes/pages... Do you get any Ruby Console Errors ?
I notie the lines are only afew mm long so choose a small width - 4 = 4" ~= 100mm x10 the length of the line !

I'll look into the rectangle's drawing clipping.
The Z-plane tool does have inferencing tooltips and will snap to these points but the cursor doesn't cahnge, I look at this too...

Attached is the VCB during drawing an arc. Not sure, what VCB is displaying, however your help guide indicated that the VCB should be displaying the “swept-angle”

Thanks for the plugin
