[Plugin] V-Ray Tools (2.1.0) — 11 March 2013

Re: [Plugin] V-Ray Toys (1.1.1)

Postby MrWip » Thu May 14, 2009 5:12 pm

Ok...

But when you're working on other things than photorealistic renders(and it happens often for an architect..), it's really usefull to have a way to match a clean light calculation (without any lens effect and other stuffs like that..) on a quick sketch (Clay render are far more clear with this method).

Besides, I don't want to move to Vray up to 1.0, regarding to the amount of problem it does create (even with some ruby like 'remove CG materials'). It's sad to see that the solutions offered to solve the original bugs are worse than the bugs themselves. But that's something to be discuss on an other topic, I guess...

When I try to export via your exporter I always get a 'Failed to save image' :-(

What can I be doing wrong ?

Thanks

I've tried all sort of combination: numbers, letters and both together.
Too bad i can't export, exactly now i'm working on project that it would be a lot of help.

btw is the file type line in browser should be empty?

It doesn't offer any list of filetypes.
You must remember to append the file type to the file name. For instance: Image01.png

Good to hear it works now. I'll put it down on my to-do list for that plugin to verify the filetype. I think I did this myself once - and you know you need to change something when you are confused over something you made yourself.

I will request another VRAY toy...

as you may know, VRAY wont render properly textures that are skewed, etc... that is, it wont properly run most of the textures from models downloaded from 3D Warehouse.

Unless you make each texture a UNIQUE texture.

Problem is, the Unique Texture plugin only makes one unique texture at a time. You must select faces and manually do it. Now, if a model has hundreds of faces, it becomes quite a difficult task.

I wish there was a tool for making unique textures automatically. Also, check faces befoehand to analize if the texture in that face is skewed or not. Only makes it unique if its skewed/etc and wont show at VRAY renders.

I'm afraid that there's no API to make textures unique. :(

Sorry. What I mean is that we can only allow what SU allows us to control from Ruby. The API is the methods we can use to communicate with SU's model. Making textures unique is missing. :(

damn SU developers!

does that mean you cant even execute the Make Texture Unique command already implemented into GE? Maybe simulate a right click over the face and a left click over the command?? :)

Hey ThomThom,

I'm trying to use the vray toys-specifically the camera sync function, and I'm not having any luck getting the tools to show up anywhere in sketchup. I've dropped the folder into my plugins folder like I've done with my other plugins, but no luck. I'm running Sketchup 7.1.6087 (the latest, I think) and vRay 01.05.30, in case that matters.

Any idea what the problem could be? I think I have it saved in the right place, I restarted sketchup several times and I've restarted my comp just in case.

Thanks

Do you have one VRayToys folder and a vray_toys.rb file right under your plugins folder?

When loaded you should have an V-Ray Toys menu under Tools. And a V-Ray Tools toolbar.

here's my current fie location setup.

Does this look correct? I've checked under tools and plugins and I don't see it in SKUP.

No, you should not have that vray_toys-1_1_1 folder there.

The VRayToys folder and a vray_toys.rb should be placed directly under SU's plugins folder.

Thanks again, and it seems like you're the go to guy for VfSU, I hope the beta testing is going well. It's rolling out in February right? Looking forward to it and thanks again!

Hi ThomThom, does this camera plugin work with the new Vray for SU release? I cant seem to get the zoom factor to output correctly anymore.
Have you had chance to use it yet in the new Vray at all?

With the new VfSU you do not need to adjust the Zoom factor. Set it to one.
There is no features in this plugin for the new VfSU.

Updated to make Load on Demand compatible with the new VfSU release.

When using VfSU 1.48.66 or newer - you can now enable or disable VfSU from Preferences -> Extensions in SketchUp.
But that will enable VfSU for all SU sessions. If you want to enable VfSU in just one session then use V-Ray Toys->Start V-Ray.
