[Plugin Library] LibFredo6 - v4.9c - 20 May 13 (for SU13)

[Plugin Library] LibFredo6 - v4.9c - 20 May 13 (for SU13)

Postby fredo6 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 11:53 pm

Please Upgrade to LibFredo6 4.9c and above if you run Sketchup 13.

LibFredo6 is a shared library used by some of my plugins. It is NOT a standalone plugin. Plugins currently using LibFredo6 are:
You need to install it and respect the versions required by the Plugins, the higher, the better. The current version level of LibFredo6 is 4.9 (so 49 in integer form). I maintain backward compatibility so that plugins requiring an older version of LibFredo6 should work with a new version.

IMPORTANT: if you just install LibFredo6 without any of the plugins above, you will see no new toolbar in Sketchup but an entry "LibFredo6 Settings.." in the Windows menu.

I also suggest that you install 000_AdditionalPluginFolders to have more control on errors when Sketchup loads plugins.

LibFredo6 User Manual - English - v4.0.pdf

LibFredo6 Manual Utilisateur - French - v4.0.pdf
(Thanks to Jean Franco for Translation)

LibFredo6 User Manual - Chinese-zh-cn v4.0.pdf
(Thanks to guanjin)

Note: If you drop the PDF doc files into the DOCUMENTATION_Dir subfolder, you can access them from within Sketchup.

  • Sketchup versions: 6 and above (free and Pro)
  • Platform: Windows and Mac OSX
  • Language: English, French, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Chinese, + partial Italian, Japanese, Korean, German (thanks to all kind translators). Thanks to Christophe Plassais for the French user manual. Thanks to guanjin for the Chinese user manual.
  • Menus: by default, it is installed in Window > LibFredo6 Settings…
  • Icon toolbar: NO Toolbar

On Windows (with Winzip)
1) Download and Open the archive
2) Select All (Ctrl A)
3) Extract into the Sketchup Plugin Directory
4) Answer YES to OVERWRITE all existing files if any

The footprint on Windows in the SU Plugin Directory must be:
LibFredo6 49 - Windows.png

On Mac OSX
1) Click on the Zip archive on Sketchucation
2) This should open the Download box with highlight on the folder LIBFREDO6_Dir_46 and LibFredo6.rb
3) Copy this folder and file to the Sketchup Plugins directory
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Google SketchUp 8/SketchUp/plugins

The footprint on Mac OSX in the SU Plugin Directory must be:
LibFredo6 49 - OSX.png

CAUTION: NEVER rename or move files from their folders. If you are unsure of your unzip operation, do it in a neutral folder and check that you reconstruct the right footprint. Then transfer the folders and files to the SU Plugin Directory.

LibFredo6 can be installed in any directory, not just the Sketchup standard directory. Doing so will allow you to automatically share the same plugin version if you have several versions of Sketchup installed, and to avoid the security right restrictions for copying files to the system folders on Windows (like C:\program files). Just always make sure that my plugin folders (like FREDOSCALE_Dir_22) are located in the same place as LibFredo6.rb.
See 000_AdditionalPluginFolders for more information.

LibFredo6 4.9c - 20 May 13.zip

LibFredo6 4.9c - 20 May 13.rbz

No video for the time being

LibFredo6 is now in charge of loading my plugins.
LibFredo6 takes care, among others, of enriching the plugins with a few capabilities:
  • Default parameters
  • Language translation via external files (please, read the doc if you wish to contribute)
  • Extra information and external links available in the “About…” box and menus
  • Check Plugins for Update, with live connection to the Web
  • Trace logging
  • Purge of older versions of plugin files
LibFredo6 installs a submenu “LibFredo6 Settings…” in the Sketchup Windows menu. It contains a command to specify the language preferences, as well as several utilities for plugin maintenance. You can also set a few default parameters (inference colors) and access the documentation (as a PDF).

Escargot,

Pas d'affichage. C'est juste une librairie de code Ruby commune a certains de mes scripts, le premier de cette famille etant FreeScale.

The 2 files seems to work, though I can't really help to check with my laptop. At least it shows up in the translation dialog box.
Does 크기 변형 means "Scaling"

If other users want to try, just extract the file and
- drop LibFredo6_KO.lang into the LIBFREDO6_Dir_31 folder
- drop FreeScale_KO.lang into FREESCALE_Dir_20 folder

Thanks very much

Fredo,

First of all many thanks for all your wonderfull plugins. You have brought SU to a new, unprecedented, level.
Of course I follow the topics on your plugins and try to be as updated as possible, because your plugins already make part of my daily/standard SU tools.
You have just released a new version of Freescale (v2.0e) and following your advise I also downloaded the new
LibFredo6 (v3.1e). For the first time, this release contains a new folder called DEFPARAM_Dir, containing 1 (text)item. But...this file is already in my plugins folder as part of the Cadspan plugin (to prepare SU models for 3D printing).
As usual it is impossible to have 2 files with identical names in one folder........
So here's my question: can I replace the cadspan-DEFPARAM_Dir with yours, without getting into troubles with Cadspan or not? Can both plugins use that same folder without problems??
I have put 'on hold' the update of your plugins upon further info from you, so please fill me in.
greetings,
Ton

Re: [Library] LibFredo6 3.1e (28 Apr 09)

Postby fredo6 » Thu Apr 30, 2009 8:00 am

Ton,

The small text file have no specific use for the script. It is there in the archive to force the creation of DEFPARAM_Dir via Unzip if not already existing.

I incorporated the DEFPARAM_Dir folder (empty with just one small file) in order to be sure this folder is created at installation.

LibFredo6 would normally create it on the fly whenever you deal with Default Parameters, but it seems that in some environments (Mac in particular) and depending on security rules, the creation of the folder from a Ruby script may not be authorized.

When you unzip, and already have a folder DEFPARAM_Dir, it is neutral. Whether you answer Yes or No to the 'Replacement' question from Unzip (or Copy), your existing folder will continue existing, as well as its content.

Fredo

PS: In general, I recommend that you always do a Yes All replacement when unzipping, so that you don't have to worry about what has changed. Also, keep in mind that file names in a ZIP archive go along the folder hierarchy (so it is not unusual to have several files with the same name in a Zip file, but associated with different folders)

Also, I introduce this change in release 3.1c or 3.1d, not 3.1e

My previous post was general about the installation.

In your specific case of Cadspan, are you sure the DEFPARAM_Dir folder belongs to this script. Could you tell me what it contains?

These are just harmless warnings about the ruby syntax.

Fredo..

I don´t know if this is the correct place for this request.
Can be added something like this menu to LibFredo6?:
menu.gif

(It is from: http://www.3skeng.com)

This menu can be part of your plugins...

I don´t know if your HoverSelect will be extended to select faces, groups, dimensions... but the idea is to have only one button on the toolbar and with a key you can see and select all the other options with the onscreen menu:
Selector menu.jpg

Example for JPP tool:

Daniel,

This is an interesting metaphor.
There are however a few issues with the JPP suggestion, because it is not possble to drwa images (i.e. jpg) in a tool.

For HoverSelect, I am not clear on what it would give on other entity types than edges. But this would be easy to derive (Edges are the most complex actually).
