[Plugin] Zorro2 (beta)

[Plugin] Zorro2 (beta)

Postby Whaat » Sun Jan 25, 2009 4:55 am

Time for an update of Zorro. I think this release is much more polished than the first one. Plus, you now finally have the ability to render section cut views.

New Features:

-made cuts work with parallel projection views
-added slice model at section plane (right click on a section plane for context menu)
-added nested cuts using CTRL modifier
-improved precision of cuts

Somes notes on this release:
- It is recommended to use 'Slice model at Section' on a backup of your SKP file. It is a destructive process.
- Cutting through nested components results in creation of many unique components
- Some code was used with permission from TIG's SectionCutFace script to create a cutting plane from a section plane. Thanks!
- Script should work for older versions of SU and also on Mac systems

I am calling this a beta version so please post any bugs or requests in this thread. Enjoy!

EDIT: Updated version now attached which should fix the problems that have been reported. Also added tutorial.

Seems that I was the first to download - willplay and give feedback as much as possible. Thanks Dale for this major upgrade; I'm especially interested in this section cut effect (I love TIG's script as well).

Also, this seems to be a special day again with these real presents you guys spoil us with! :sketchstatic:

Let's play with this version, feedback very soon !

MALAISE :thumb:

Just a try

The former version worked perfectly ( SU V6 and V7 ).

Using Zorro2 when trying to cut a simple box even a group, the white feather
is gluing to the cut line, and nothing happens.

back to Zorro.rb (1), all work perfectly.

I hope it's help :)

Hi Whaat

Some difficulties using Zorro2. No cutting effects, the white (feather  ) arrow is gluing to the cut line.
Let's see my previous post.

Can you post the SKP file? Are you sure you are in group-edit mode when you are doing the cut?

Seems works not with the orthogonal view (parallel projection)! :o
Works fine with normal view and 2 points perspective ;)

Request : a little tut video! :)
Question: why not name the new Zorro file: zorro2.rb ?

Dear Dale,

I too would like to see a video tutorial, or a .pdf help file explaining the various options.

Kind regards,

I guess I created a small bug just before I released the plugin that I did not release was there. i will post a fixed version later today. Sorry! I will also try to create a tutorial later today if I have time. For those of you who do not want to wait, just change line 266 to read:

Code: Select all
Sketchup.active_model.start_operation("Zorro")

I belive this will fix the problem but I don't have time to fully test right now.

Just for quibble "main_menu.add_item("Zorro")" must be "main_menu.add_item("Zorro2")" ;)
