Andrew,

1) draw a horizontal circle
2) draw a vertical arc on top of it (starting and ending on opposite endpoints of the circle) and a line between the two endpoints to close the face
3) select the circles edges all around
4) select the Follof me tool and hit the face of your half circle.
5) you may wish to delete the initial cirlce and
6) depending on you getting a blue or white face of you semi-dome/hemisphere, you may wish to reverse it (right click, reverse face)

Not the base edge (for that is shared with the dome itself) but jzust the face. Click on it (once) and either hit the Del(ete) button or right click and choose "Erase".

Another way is to open the Components Menu / Shapes and select a 1/2 sphere. Too easy perhaps, but still an option.

There is the scale tool. Select everything then the scale tool and start pulling one of the green "buttons".
While doing so, Shift key will toggle between uniform/non-uniform scale, Ctrl key will toggle between scaling about opposite point / centre.

I'm a few days into sketchup so bear with me :),

How do you create 2/3 spheres? I'm trying to put a doorway into a thick walled ball and don't know how to erase/divide up a sphere.

Also, in the welcoming message here there's a link for a semisphere tutorial that is 404'ed.

Well, Guite's examples may serve your needs. I do understand them so if there's any problem with them just tell us, please.

About the 404 error ("not found") - we had some problems with loosing some content so sorry for that. We'll try to replace it.
