silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKRe: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKI wouldnt be surprised if you got a little distracted by the model, it is certainly a very attention grabbing piece of work.
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKHe is certainly a very talented Sketcher, but it seems everyone on here is. I've learned so much since I joined this forum. It's great!!!
Have I mentioned how much of a laugh I get out of some of the Signatures on here!

![]() I'm completely speechless !!! Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKSuperb work Silver Shadow.
I'm wondering now if anyone has ever done the work from Sketchup to Flight Simulator. Would take a few imports at the modeling stage prior to setting up any flight dynamics. Would have to cut down on the LOD for it I'm sure. ![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKOh my, Mr Shadow.
A thing of beauty is a joy forever. Do the guns work and where did you get the plugins? Simply awesome. I must try harder. Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKYou ain't seen nuttin yet!!
Jaques (silvershadow) gave me a sneak peak into 'Eyecandy III', I promised not to let the cat out the bag, but never said anything about setting y'all up for something that will top this masterpeice. The next one will blow you away, I still look at his current progress which by his standards is only 30% done (to me it's already too much to comprehend)..nuff said! Damn!! this dude is scary good, and patient, I would have lost it the first day.
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKIf I'm not already envious....great! Thanks for the tease!!!!

Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKHi there pippo. You asked if this was done is su only. The answer is yes, the inithail adiea is to see how far su can bend to take hit after hit till its folds. Candy 3 would be the same thing. Pushing su more and more. Since i do not have su 7 yet, ill still bench stress test su 6 for a while
![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKour firm is thinking of getting it this week so ill be moving over to su 07 then
![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKYou could still use the free version until then and simply install the Pro on top later (but of course it's not an urgent "must" to do)
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKDon't rush the man Gai, he has candy to make

Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKsilvershadow,
on your next presentation could you document an example of how you make one of your more detailed 'pieces?' In your last model you have a few elements that are organic with loads of amazing detail built in and I'm struggling to wrap my brain around it! at least a hint? thanks! keep up the amazing work and I can't wait to see your newest endeavor. Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKI will try to be more clearer on how stuff was made in the next candy, of course i will not cover all the elements, some of that will be basic modelling, but i will try to do a couple
![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKHi, I am a new member from holland. I tried to introduce myself but that forum wont work at this time. sorry for that. What a great model is this. My question is how do you make the face of the helicopter. I tried it for a long time but with no results. The photos you placed from the building Photos 3 4 and 5 (page 1) these steps are to difficult to understand for me. Please can you give me a short discription of the steps you made to built this.
Greatings Cees Boersen / Holland Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKIt seems that i'm late on this post but i mus say this:
Y-O-U A-R-E C-R-A-Z-Y S-H-A-D-O-W!! So beautiful, so good! ![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKhi ceesboersen
Making the form of the helicopter was easy with a little bit of trial and error too. First step, i probably should have shown it. I trace the helicopter from the bottom and side. Then i extrude both (bottom and side to meet each other) and then i intersect it with each other. And then just cut off the parts i dont need. I only need half of the model, so i also cut the model in half. Creating ribs is a random thing and yo uput it in as you think it would be useful further up. Once there and you have the ribs, you dont need the rest, so i delete it. Rounding the edges, and then used a tool called skin. This links 2 planes together. So i did that per rib to fill up the model. I know this sounds a little vague, but i will try to explain in my next post. to artysmedia much appreciated and thanks Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK
Thnaks for the explanation. Maybe i'll try it later, but i dont like a lot making transport units! ![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKOke thanks for the information. I tried it like that way before and it looks not so nice as yours. Maybe i have to make mor slices to make is soften and smooth. Thanks for the information
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKi know its not as easy and is more of a trial and error and sometimes comes to manually fill spaces to get the look right. Body work of anything do take probably the longest in models like these. Don't give up, you'll get it right
![]() Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKstunning work !! thought i understood SU limits but obviously not. so i have a similar question to above, wouldn't this have been easier to do in Rhino? i am just about to start learning rhino for this reason but maybe i just need to have a good look at SU7.
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKi think any program has its ups and downs in modelling different parts where its maybe easy in one application and hard in the other one. Haven't played with Rhino yet. Mixing platforms is sometimes the best to get good results, the more you know and are able to do..the better. Sketchup is pretty cool still and still try to push it harder and harder. The more practice, the better you get. I think this works for anything in life..if you stop practicing, you rust up and forget. Best solution, find something you like, and stick to that as you main modelling engine.
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKPhenomenal. Truly phenomenal. Everything about it is impressive but my god man, the level of detail on rotors is what really really impressed me. i just read through the whole thread and there is nothing more to add, everything has been said, except i do have a question: where is Eye Candy 3? And which was Eye Candy 1???
Re: silvershadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWKWithout letting the proverbial cat out the bag...Eye candy 3 will happen soon, and brace yourself for it, as it's a whopper. I was able to get a sneak peak during the early phases and that already hurt my jaw as it hit the ground.
Oh! Jacques...no pressure. ![]()
