help with a design problem

Postby dammerel » Sun Dec 02, 2007 5:08 am

hi guys
i hope someone can help with this,
Have a look at the attached model -its a bike rack
How would I model a gusset (plate) in the apex of the triangle legs
so the horizonal bar can be welded to it
I know i could draw it and then move it into position but it be
done in-place ?

Andrew,

Nice that. Care with the fron/back colours though; you will have hardships with renderers once you want to try.

BTW - have you read the announcement?

I dont totally understand your question. But, start the component elsewhere; with a single line turned into this component. Then go to you apex and use the round material as your guide and draw your new element. After you apex element is started erase the stray line youstarted the component with. HTH

Dear Dammerel,

Is the attached the sort of thing you are looking for?

Kind regards,
Bob

Ah, yeah, sorry guys. I first saw the attachment THEN the question in SEPARATE posts but before, I already answered (actually not knowing what the hack was) and was happy to be able to merge the two.

Kind of a bit tired nowadays with all this new board stuff.

Well, actually, Andrew, I don't see why you could not do it elsewhere and move it into place when done.
This is the normal way when in place there's a lot of disturbing, inferencing geometry.
