Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]John,
Could you post the movie link here so we can get a better idea of the app in action? Mike
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]hi Mike,
not a problem, when I tidy it up a bit... in the mean time I just finished a test dmg plugin loader, that should put a ruby and support folder directly into the right place. it's just Jim's homer.rb ( Jim hope you don't mind) if you already have it, it will ask if you want to replace, etc... Can everyone try, I'll put a 'how to make' in the dev forum if it works well. It may make life easier for Mac-SU plugin newcomers [as well as developers] it may only work on v8 which is what I really need to know. cheers john Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Hi all, I made a [low quality] demo, but it's still >4MB Here's a download linkEDIT: NEW LINK REMOVED this one as well, too small, see two posts below for a full screen demo, link I'll sort out a smaller one later... john edit: replaced the broken link... this should work Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.

Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]John, I'm not entirely sure what you are trying to do
The video is also too blurred to make much sense out of. Any chance of a higher resolution version? cheers. Tom My book "Let's SketchUp!" Download from here
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]hi Tom,
Links and file sizes are driving me nuts, so now I've remembered it only needs to work on a Mac.... like the app. here's a reasonable quality version (with all my fumbling with a giant cursor!!!) it's took me 7 secs to download and you can watch in full screen to see what's happening. all the actions are SLOWED down, it's not as clunky in use... sorry for the others, I'll take it down john http://homepage.mac.com/johnboundy/filechute/sumac_demo%232.mp4.zip
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]"Filechute" is so awesome!

Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Me again, here's the link to the app, It's slowed down at the moment because I added a load of extra steps and delays to show what's happening... have a play http://homepage.mac.com/johnboundy/filechute/sumac_dev_2011-03-01-002859.dmg.zip ...a had trouble with the short URL's Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.

PixelStickHi Guys,
When I was back in the Stone Age using Windows Over the past couple of years I have come across a few similar Mac apps but none as good as Meazure until now! PixelStick http://www.plumamazing.com/mac/pixelstick/ does the job very well. Check out the screencast on the site as it explains the in and outs. Meazure allowed me to open multiple rulers which was needed at times. To do this in PixelStick I have to 'copy' the app and make multiple pixelsticks. It looks to be free or a pay if you like! If you find it useful please consider buying as it helps the developer to improve the app. Mike PS: For all the Win users that have a peek in here, the link to Meazure is http://www.cthing.com/Meazure.asp Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Compress PDF Workflow 6.0
Apparently Apple removed this feature in Tiger! (How annoying! However after a little searching, I found this Automator script, that does a fab job- although a bit fiddly if you need to tweak it. My book "Let's SketchUp!" Download from here

Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Tom,
I find RulerX better http://homepage.mac.com/kyasu/soft/ and to keep things 'on top' I use AFLOAT http://infinite-labs.net/afloat/ http://youtu.be/qSLTfII8ClU Mike

Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]I've been doing a lot of research to write a ruby or applescript that lets me quickly view 2 or more models for various reasons, known only to Mac users ;) however I just found this, downloaded and tested and it's great, Free trial and a whole $5 if you like it... I;m still going to try and write my own SU specific plugin, but in the mean time... http://manytricks.com/moom/ anyhow thought I'd share as the search here says no-ones mentioned it before. have fun john Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Thanks John, downloaded, installed and tested ...... will keep it

Neat Free Sketch ToolI can see great potential in this one especially for making transparent "flipbooks" in PNG format for overlaying on a sketchup model.

Re:KROPERHi Guys,
While looking for a simple 'one trick pony' app to simply crop pics I came across Kroper. It does just that and no more. Just drop the image in and 'krop it'. It can be downloaded here, http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/35241/kroper Oh, and its free! Mike Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]definitely the best 3rd party utility app i own: Keyboard Maestro
http://www.keyboardmaestro.com/main/ it's a macro editor/creator which works very well with sketchup.. [for instance, i have a macro which will (open component, select all, explode, explode again, generate faces(tos),exit component edit) all with one keystroke] i have it set up to do a few more things as well and hope to incorporate it more in the future (im just a little hesitant to set up 50 macros at once as i'll probably forget them.. i generally try one or two new ones a week) worth checking out though.. Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]Hi Guys,
I came across this useful little 'stand alone' app called iSplash. What it does? 'Choose any image and iSplash will turn it to grayscale. Then, choose any part of the image to restore the original color.' Its on sale at the moment for 99cent, normal price is $4.99. Attached is an image of my mate Val standing beside a statue of Mr Picasso in Torremolinos ..... notice the strong resemblance .... Val now think they must be related Mike PS: Val woke up that morning missing a tooth! He couldn't remember how it happened Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]re: the keyboard maestro app i mentioned a few posts back..
here's an example of it being used to divide a single group into 110 individual groups (via a thread here at scf) viewtopic.php?p=336059#p336059 dotdotdot
Tab LauncherHi Guys,
The more of those useful little apps I accumulate the more difficult it is becoming to locate them in Applications! I often find that I know what the application I am looking for actually does BUT for the live of me I often can't remember its name! I did a search around for an answer and found Tab Launcher for 99cent! http://tablauncher.com/index.html I've installed it and sorted out 8 tabs that cover the various types of apps I use. It was just a case of then dropping in the various apps. No more searching around or trying to remember the apps name! Mike Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]@mike
That's how lion is goingto be setup. Apple is taking some of their iOS stuff and putting it in osx. Namely, the way you can organize your apps on an iPhone will now be possible on the computers (supposedly with a better way to launch said apps as well via launchpad) I guess we'll find out soon enough. dotdotdot
Re: Useful MAC Applications [Ongoing Updates]I won't try Lion for at least a couple of months after launch
