Managing a library

Managing a library

Postby Roel Bogaerts » Tue Jun 19, 2012 3:04 pm

Hi,

I'm looking for a good way to manage my files I use for rendering.
Currently, I make screenshots and print them out so I can work quickly.
But, this system is not so flexible and it costs me a lot of effort.
I tried Adobe bridge, but it can not preview a lot of file types.
The most common file types I use are:
JPG, PNG, PSD, SKP, 3DS, OBJ, HDR, DWG,...
Does anyone have any experience with managing a library?
Or have any suggestions?

Thanx,
Roel

There are threads here regarding file / graphical / thumbnail viewers. Search for them. 'Mystic Thumbs' is maybe the strongest candidate.

Hmm? I've installed Magic thumbs but nothing has changed. What have I done wrong?

Is that for making you win at:

?

Sorry. Is it this that you installed? http://www.magictoolbox.com/magicthumb/ That looks like a thing for adding code to a web page.

You probably have to adjust some options setting for mystic-thumbs to get it to do what's needed ?

I see. From here? http://mysticcoder.net/mysticthumbs.html

Did you look through the FAQ page? Since I assume you bought it, you ought to be able to get support from them for it.

I've downloaded it here:

http://www.chip.de/downloads/MysticThum ... 01973.html

It's Version 1.98, the last free Version.

It shows tga, for example, but it didn't show skp :-(

I see. I don't suppose they'll provide any support for the free version. I wonder if there's a forum somewhere with a number of users of the program.

This http://mysticcoder.net/mysticthumbs.html is proper the author's download site - v2.8.2 is current.
There has a 30 day [?] free-trial [but with 'watermarking']... but then it's only $29 for one commercial license...
I have it and use it.
It's very handy to view what a SKP/SKM looks like in its folder, as well as the icons of all other image formats etc...
Works for me... :?
Vista 32bit...

It semms to be, that only the newer version 2.0 supports skp/skm - files, then it's worth the money!
