[REQ] Objects Insertion Point Default

Postby JQL » Sun Dec 21, 2014 1:11 pm

Jiminy,

As title says, on Skater 0.05 objects insertion point defaults to center while most users will probably use axis.

Would it be possible to change this and also have at least one more option that is bottom center?

Thanks!

You think?
I'd like to have other people opinions on this. Guys?

BTW, "center" is actually bottom center.

I typically place all axes at bottom centre and think it's a logical insertion point.

That's excellent!

What I think about axis vs center (bottom) is that most software (I use at least) uses axis for placement. Sketchup and Thea do...

Most of my models are already configured on that premise and I suppose most models that are acquired are also working like that.

XFrog trees for instance use axis above bottom, because of the roots. For furniture or cars, that certainly isn't the case, but for grass, flowers and stuff like that, setting the axis a bit up makes us sure the probability of flying grass is less evident. I guess that only happens with less dense distribution and very sloped terrains though.

I'm curious to hear other people's opinions though...

agreed, that's what I would think most people's expectations are.
