Hard Day

Hard Day

Postby tuna1957 » Sat Jan 06, 2018 3:57 pm

Just what a person needs at the end of a hard day.... a tasty adult beverage ! More render experiments. Have been trying out various HDRI's in combination with spot lights. Rendered in Twilight. Posting two images, everything the same except the color/texture on the wall. Find it somewhat interesting how much the "tone" of the renders change with the simple shift in the background color.... Not sure which one I like better..... And yes they are on the dark side as that's the "mood" I was trying for.

I like the first one, to me the second has too much color for the mood. I'm also interested in the subtle effects of minor changes in color, but also a change in HDRI's on an image with a lot of reflections like your recent "Need a drink" post. Can you post some comparisons of that one using different interior HDRI's? Maybe ones with brighter/darker skies or winter/summer light. The resulting subtle changes may have more overall mood effect than expected. Also, is there enough availability of HDRI's online or do visualizers actually create their own?

Nice. The green in the first one is a good counterpoint in the color.

architect, thanks. I'll try to answer a couple of your questions if I can. I've only recently been fooling around with HDRI's, so I'm no expert. in Twilight you can adjust the power level of the light given off to suit your desired overall look. you can also rotate the HDRI around the model so your shadows and reflections come from different angles. lot's of HDRI's online but I've noticed quality can vary a lot with free images. many good ones if a person is willing to pay.
pbacot, Mike A. , your responses always appreciated. thanks.

Nice work. However, there is something about having three lights on and it still being so dark that seems illogical.

Just a quick aside, I am forever being told that when I go for darker shots, they should be brightly lit. Seems folk just do not understand.
