Scifi Sketchup Modeling

Hey Liam! Long time no see.

I'm really liking your modeling. What do you do for your textures?

Do you paint them in PS or just download them?

As a great fan of the alien movie and the Ridley Scott I was really inspired lately by first info about the newest movie called Prometheus. So decided to make some pictures before the movie will be well known or they'll release the trailer.

This is my vision of the first human expedition send to discover the unknown mysterious race called the navigators or space jockey. The same organizm was foundf in the derelict spaceship at the beginning of the alien movie. This planes is dead for millenia and should look really different and alien. Its a quiet quick image, wanted to keep it rough and atmospheric.

All done in photoshop, the amazing desing of the landing module was created by Liam Keating, thanks.

Hi Liam, your art is inspiring to someone like me who is only just starting out to do this art for fun, I discovered Sketchup a few months ago and have not looked back. I like sci fi and like drawing it for fun, recently I started using Kerkythea for rendering my pictures and received some good feedback, however they keep mentioning post production enhacement of final pics, you are the first person i have come across that has in some way managed to give me some idea of what this is about, and your work is fantastic without doing any rendering. I managed to save your information on using photo shop to enhance my drawings, I will try again to improve them following your advice and see where I end up lol. I have submitted a picture to the WIP area and wait for moderator to approve, please have a look sometime when it gets there and let me know what you think, any advice would be greatly appreciated, any updated info or links you may have would be gold for me atm, cheers and please keep posting your work, I need all the inspiration i can get.

It was a long time ago I made that model! Well its hard to model the environments in SU, I usually make a basic model and then paint over it in Photoshop.

I have being viewing your work alot lately Liam, very impressive work, i noticed also you work on game projects also on whisper studios, great detail, im curious to know do you import these models directly into a game engine? Iv only recently started helping out an independent game developer team on creating models, you can view my old barn concept in the WIP FORUM. Any tips would be great in this line of work :)

I have never had to import directly as its never been my job, I leave that to the programmers etc. I just make sure when I deliver a model its in the right format, usually .3ds.

I am so busy with my real job I dont have time to play anymore but I try as much as possible as it keeps me sane! If I do any new projects or work it will appear on my website here:
