_2014.10.04_05h39m07s_003_00990.jpg

here what i have choose in preferences
_2014.10.04_05h48m57s_004_00991.jpg

the wall in the backbround is a curved object.

the result is this

_2014.10.04_05h58m12s_005_00992.jpg

reason could be that a curved face is splitted in smaller face like this

_2014.10.04_06h00m21s_006_00993.jpg

the wall part i want produce have an exact width of 1200mm (3' 11")
or have anybody an other solution?

download this file here

Sorry but FloorGenerator only works on faces not surfaces. Even if hidden geometry is not displayed, when you pick a point on the surface you select just one of the faces that make up the surface.

You could create a face with the overall dimensions of the surface. Then use Shape Bender to produce the curved surface after applying the tile pattern. A bit of work but all I can offer at this time.

yes this i have try before i asking here, with Fredo Scale ( Radial Bending)

what you mean is Chris Fullmer Shape Bender.

i have never tried it before.

ok, this work.

now i have a problem. the segments have not the exact lenght.

your plugin AddPts2Curve was my help, to see where on the curve is the 1,2m point and the next etc.

I will try step by step all your plugins.
Helper like plugins will every time be welcome.

@sdmitch Its the first time I see HTML code embedded in a Ruby script. Thanks for not using .rbs
It gives me some confidence and a template to redo some of my scripts incorporating HTML. :bounce:

Finally I have an example & see how with HTML I can place pictures next to my drop-down boxes.

cheers!

Hello Sam,

is it possible to insert the feature that tiles is grouped?

actually if i generate a floor i have only a main group.

when tiles is grouped i can do random rotate with mover2.

this will look a little bit more inperfect.

in mover i can use random rotation in x,y or z axis and can insert the degree by value.

thank you

Dean

Do you mean each individual brick is a group?

actually if i generate a floor i have only a main group.

That is what the "Random Imperfections" option is for. That feature was fixed and enhanced in the last update on 21-Sep

this will look a little bit more inperfect.

the random inperfection rotate in all axis.. some times i would have only a rotation in z-axis. a value in degree is helpful.
when all tiles would be in own group..so i could work with mover2 and in the last step ungroup this tiles.

ungrouping go faster than grouping if i have tiles more than 1000+ .

thank you

Random Rotation

Postby deaneau » Thu Oct 09, 2014 6:50 am

i have seen your plugin "Random Rotation".
in this plugin you could insert 3 checkmarks for x y z-axis.

so i have the control for axis. actually looks that the rotation work in all axis.

like this

That plugin is for rotating whole components or groups not individual entities within the component or group.

[REQ]Prefix for Random Textures in Floor Generator

Postby deaneau » Tue Oct 14, 2014 9:44 am

Hello Sam,

i have a project for this i would use your FloorGenerator.

i know that you have a random textur feature in this plugin.

what do you think about to integrate a feature that doing follow:

i have 10 different pattern and i would use 10 different texture packs.

a approach to solving this problem could be that all textures have a prefix.

for example.

A_Texture1,A_Texture2,A_Texture3 etc
B_Texture1,B_Texture2,B_Texture3 etc.

A_ B_ C_ etc is the prefix.
Texture1, Texture2 is a placeholder for my own given name.

when i use in the first step the Tile Pattern and i will use a texture pack A_

dropdown menue let me choose the Prefix A_

in the next step i would use Brick Pattern with TexturePack B_

i choose only in the dropdown the Prefix B_

this textures with a given Prefix i want use for your Random texture feature.

actually i must change the textures in the texture folder when i want have different textures in the next step.

if the floor is generated i would have all parts in own groups.

actually the floors is only in one main group.

why i would have this features.

the workflow after integrating this feature would be more faster and when the objects is in own groups i can animate this in other programs.

download here

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9ET1G ... sp=sharing

thank you

p.s.component is better than groups i think

Hello,

i have had a problem with random texture.

my result was this:

_2014.10.17_08h34m54s_001_01160.jpg

after renaming all textures with a prefix i have solve this problem

result:

_2014.10.18_10h14m26s_001_01161.jpg

here a example for file renaming:

_2014.10.18_10h16m44s_003_01163.jpg
_2014.10.18_10h17m40s_004_01164.jpg

I was looking for such a tool for SketchUp so long! Thanks for it!
I'm playing with the plugin now, and I have a questions:
- is there a way to limit the used quantity of the colors in "Rand_clr" mode?

What is the latest version of this plugin? This is different than the one downloaded straight from the SketchUcation store in SU.
Also, you can't change the size of the pattern?? I want to set a 10' long wood board pattern, but it's stuck on 10" and won't accept any changes.
Does this work correctly at all?

21-Sep-2014 is the latest version. The plugin is setup for inches or millimeters so 10' is not valid, enter 120 instead.

Re: [Plugin] FloorGenerator (Updated 21-Sep-2014)

This tool has the potential to be an indispensable time-saving utility for visualizing tile layout. For example, the capability to use the actual images of tile to visualize their position within a layout is absolutely wonderful. As one who sees the prospect of this utility, I offer the following feature suggestions to extend its usefulness even further:

1) Add a 'Pattern Reset' button.
Move pattern reset from its present location under the pattern drop menu to its own dedicated button on the main options palette.

2) Save current settings when the plugin closes.
Presently, settings reset to default when the FloorGenerator plugin closes.

3) Add the option to prevent "texture adjacency".
This suggestion requires some explanation. Applies to tile with images/patterns/designs, where 1) images/patterns/designs are randomly distributed within a grid BUT, 2) images/patterns/designs must not be adjacent. Presently, the FloorGenerator plugin's randomization permits instances where two identical textures are adjacent. Allow the option to prevent any instance from occurring where the same tile is adjacent along horizontal, vertical or diagonal axes. This option would only be relevant above a certain min. threshold of unique tiles. This ability is, in my opinion, the most important potential feature of the plugin.

4) Add a "1:1 Texture Scale" button.
A button that instantly matches tile size values to tile image at 1:1 would be a valuable convenience.

5) Add a material selection browser box.
Replace the current requirement of coping tile texture images to a specific location (within the plugin folder) with the ability to browse and select any custom location. That location is saved when the plugin is closed.

1. The current "Reset" option, returns all patterns to there default settings and was something I assumed would be rarely used. I guess that's not the case for you?

2. The individual "Pattern" settings are maintained from session to session. The only thing not currently retained is the Pattern Option itself which defaults to Tile. If this is not the case for you, perhaps you have an old version? I will add code to save last Pattern selected.

3. An easy thing to see visually but would be a major task to code I think.

4. Could be applicable to some Patterns but not all. I will give it some thought.

5. This is something I did sometime ago. Guess I forgot to post that version.

By using the Grid Rotation option of 0,45,90. 0 and 90 usually work without a problem, but for some reason yet to be determined, 45 often fails. The 0 option always causes the pattern to be aligned with the longest side of the face.

Today I tried again the same geometry and it worked...joys of computing..
How do you go about texturing individual boards without going into each board? Is this actually possible? What I have done so far applied texture to whole face and than executed plugin. BTW great plugin. Much nicer than working with displacement in render time.

Something I have experienced many times.

The original face is sub-divided by a grid and new faces created to create the width and depth of the gaps. These new faces don't automatically inherit the material of original face so it is necessary to apply the desired material to each new face. Applying the material to the original face only defines that material as the current material.

Sdmitch This plugin is AMAZING! I am surprised it is free! the more i use it the more powerful i find it.

One thing that would be really great to see is a randomflip to the textures option. This would increase the quality of rendering substantially.

Great job again!
