Postby Aerilius » Fri Apr 26, 2013 12:41 pm

screenshot1b.png

A drag&drop editor for creating custom toolbars from plugin's buttons.

Download

Version: 1.1.2
Date: 08.06.2014

Requirements: SketchUp 8 M1+, IE8+

Usage:
  • Menu 'Window' → 'Toolbar Editor'
  • Click the "+" button on the left to create a new toolbar. You can rename toolbars or remove them ("-" button).
  • Click the "+" button on the right to create a new button. You can then write your own Ruby commands or paste a piece of Ruby code that you found on the forums.
  • Drag items from the list of available buttons to the left into a toolbar panel. You can rearrange the buttons, move them into other toolbars or remove them by dropping them out to the right.
  • The list can be filtered.
  • Don't forget to click the "Apply" button to save once you are happy with the changes. Not all changes can be applied immediately, some only on next start of SketchUp.

This looks like a pretty cool plugin. Unfortunately on my MacBook, some of the icons won't stay on the left when I drag them. One in particular is the Fillet tool from TIG's 2D Tools. Is there something about some tools that will make this not work?

Edit: After inserting a tool from the BZ_Spline tools, I tried the 2D Fillet again and it went. Weird.

i don't know if i'm doing it right, but it refuses to add any tools i tried (i also tried with bezier toolbar tools ;) ) but unfortunately when i drag the icon from right to left and relase it, it comes back to the right and nothing happens.. am i missing something? :?

edit. it looks to work now.. maybe i was relasing the items the wrong way!

The droppable area is only on the top.
Other weird behavior can be because it is not native drag&drop (but JavaScript/jQuery). Sometimes it's necessary to hover between two icons until jQuery finds the insertion point and opens a gap.
I'll add more visual feedback.

:thumb: once used to it the dragging and dropping is OK!!
the major downside is that everytime you open/close sketchup the toolbars mess up!!

great tool anyway, thank you! i will try to make only a couple of big toolbars so it's faster to rearrange them.. do you think this can be fixed in the future? or it's a sketchup limitation?

actually this plugin has got to be the best of 2013....just too good...i can imagine a whole planet is going to redesign their toolbars layout in the next few days...incredible......

makes you wonder...if it takes Aerilius a week to create this beauty...what are Su developers doing in boulder colorado...skiing no doubt..! ;)

[removing by dropping the icon to the right doesn't seem to work on my machine - edit: working now that i restarted and re-edited the toolbar]

Oh, that could be difficult to find out ;-) The plugin sends all information about all your plugins into the dialog, and I don't have the same plugins as you. The error could be caused by something unknown.

Guanjin, all works fine on my machine (win7 64 - english) - you need to find out whether it is the language settings (virtualbox in english?)

Thankyou, I am on a mac and am sick of the toolbars floating all over the place and have been envious of Windows, this has instantly improved my workflow.

Has anyone else had problems with not all commands being available? I'm also missing a lot of icons that exist on other toolbars.

I haven't seen that. I maybe haven't looked very hard, though. I got the tools I wanted onto a toolbar without any problems.

Great plugin! very nice interface and very useful!
I would suggest (don't know if it is doable) giving the option to create dialog boxes as well.

I followed Dave's instructions and the toolbars are showing up fine in my Mac version. However they are vertical toolbars only. Can I get them to set out horizontally?

It's a feature! :D

Move the toolbar up to the top or down to the bottom temporarily and it'll swing around to horizontal. Then you can place it wherever you want.

hi Aerilius,
some bugs:
1.there is a mismatch between toolbar name in the Editor and the real name.
20130506072119.jpg

2.when renaming the toolbar, ENTER will delete it instead of confirm the name...
20130506072417.jpg

3.i can't rename toolbars in double-byte characters.it will show like this.
20130506073245.jpg

the same problem happened to LaunchUp when i search DBCS strings.
20130506074502.jpg

4.if i close the toolbar and restart sketchup, i have to click 3 times in View menu to reopen it.
5.the position of the toolbar can't be saved.it troubled me so much...

Hi, thanks for the reports!
As for 2. it looks like the "-" button has focus and accepts enter. I think I can make sure that this doesn't happen.
4., 5. I have no control about that, I wished it worked in SketchUp as it should.

I could solve 1., 2. and 3., but I don't get an error when searching in LaunchUp for 面 or 测. Do you use the latest version of LaunchUp? Which version if Internet Explorer do you use?
