Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Thanks guys. I'll give them both a go.
On a separate note, is there a way that quadfacetools, JPP and kirill's new LSS tools can come together to make a proper (precise) panelising tool for SU? I'm no scripting guru but it seems like a lot of plugins out there already come quite close. I've been asking around about this a lot but no one seems to be interested. here's what i thought: 1. Create quadface mesh (with EEby, curviloft etc.) 2. Use JPP to turn each quad into a 3d "cell" with definable offset thickness 3. Use LSS "stick group to mesh" to map a selected component neatly into each cell, breaking/distorting along the diagonals to fill the entire surface. I originally posted this idea and some example images here: viewtopic.php?f=323&t=39992 Didn't get very far, some suggestions to use TGI3D but it's a lot of money to fork out for just one little part of it's functionality. I'll keep pushing the idea periodically. Joel
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012HELP! Im freakin out! I installed TT_Lib2 and TT_QuadFaceTools to my plugins folder. TT_Lib2 gave me a copy and replace option when I went to place it in the plugins folder. Since I already have a number of TT's other tools installed I assumed it would be no problem. But I just opened Sketchup and bam, NONE of my plugins show up. Nothing in my tool pallet selection, nada! Their all still there in the plugins folder but nothing works in sketchup now! What happened? Suggestions?
When I open sketchup I get an error that reads: C:Program Files (x86)/Google/Google Sketchup 8/Plugins/Makfaces.rb The files listed below could not be loaded: Sketchup.rb no such file to load -- TT_Lib2/core.rb progrsee bar.rb no such file to load -- TT_Lib2/core.rb Contact the developer of this script address: toddb@sumstard.com Anybody else ever have this happen?!
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012It seems that TT is not here right now... so I'll try to help...
Reading past your typos... TT's tools probably include their own 'progressbar' method, loaded by one of his 'helpers' in the required TT Lib folder. ToddBurch [smustard.com] wrote the original code for a similar 'helper'. When TT's fails to load error messages fly around and the auto-load of all sorts of scripts gets awry. This says to me that you have NOT installed the QuadFace tools and/or the required helper files in the TT Lib correctly. I suspect that some files that ought to be inside a subfolder are loose inside the Plugins folder and thereby mis-loading and throwing a wobbly... Can you post screen-shots of your Plugins folder, and the subfolders associated with the tool and TT Lib... If you re-read the download pages for the tool AND the TT Lib you should have little doubt about what should and shouldn't be in the Plugins folder and the appropriate [sub]folders... Please reaffirm this to yourself, retry and come back... TIG
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012I'm guessing you placed the content of the TT_Lib2 folder in the ZIP files directly into the root of the plugins folder. Instead you should have preserved the path footprint - as described next to the download link.
Alternatively, I would recommend, you install plugins with this utility which ensures they are correctly installed: viewtopic.php?t=42315#p375454 Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012I looked at the online list of features but for some tools I can't easily associate the icon to the tool. I don't see icons for every tool noted. When I hover on the QFT icons I don't get a description either. Is there more on this, eg a pdf?
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
Yea - it's need better documentation and it's still in beta shape. I need to make some videos as well. All I got is the Wiki: https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/quadface-tools/wiki/Home Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
Thanks for the reply TT. At the speed I am learning-- NO hurry. I realize you have a few other things to do like some sort of bezier surface modeler. Oh, and I assume you have a life beyond our petty desires?

Toolbar orientation? Horizontal toolbar icons seldom reveal themselves on Mac's? Hover over vertical toolbar maybe. "To read between the lines was easier than to follow the text."OSX 10.8.3 _ _ _ _ _ SU 8.0.16845 pro
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
Doesn't work for me. I just figured out if I leave the Ruby window open I can get some info when clicking on the icons.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012hmm... so are you getting no tooltips at all when you hover over the buttons? Because there are tooltips...

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012OK they're back. After restart. I know this has happened before... Sorry for the bother. I've been getting somewhere with it now.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Hi!
I can't load a plug-in on the first page. It because of new design of a site? Win7 x64, Chrome.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
Yes - that's a big fail on account of the new site. I'll let the admins know. Meanwhile - download here: https://bitbucket.org/thomthom/quadface ... i/Download Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Thanks for the fast help! Also forgive my English
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Okay, I'm seriously confused here. Only managed to get this work once and all other attempts to repeat the process failed ever since. What do I do wrong?
1. Creating a sandbox plane. 50x50 meters, if size matters anyhow. 2. Converting sandbox to QuadTools quads. 3. Copying the plane nearby. 4. Texturing original plane. Texture is set to 50m, so it does not repeat. 5. Entering original plane group and copying UV coordinates. So far so good, paste button is now active. 6. Entering copied plane group and pasting UV coordinates. 7. Nada. I tried all kinds of various methods for conversion - exploded, grouped, did whatnot. Something I noticed is sometimes sandbox quads are turned into triangles when converted and sometimes they are not?! Help
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Do the tools work with SketchUp V7?
Do I need any other plugins/ scripts for them to work? Thank you.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Yes.
Just follow the instructions on the page that appear when you click the Download button and you'll be all set. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012A quad face property is when the diagonal edge on a non planar 4 sided object has soften and smooth property on and the cast shadow property off.

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Ok, so I replied to a post that has now disappeared so it looks like I just blurted out random crap.

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Unfortunately I get this error message when SU7 starts:
"can't convert nil into StringError Loading File tt_quadface.rb can't convert nil into String" I don't know what this means so I can't use it.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Have tt_quadface.rb in the root of the plugins folder?
It should not reside in a folder within the plugin folder as per the footprint in the first post.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Open the Ruby Console (Window > Ruby Console) and enter: load 'tt_quadface.rb'. Report back the whole error.

It appear that you do not have the required TT_lib2 installed. Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Apologies, I have included it - TT_lib2 - then taken a screenshot of the plugins folder (see attached)
and another report of the whole error (see attached txt file) many thanks. Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012
Are you sure it's installed correctly? Do you by any chance have a TT_Lib2 folder inside an TT_Lib2 folder? Can you post a screenshot of where the core.rb file inside TT_Lib2 lies? (Screenshot that includes the full path.) Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict

Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012Here's a screenshot of the TT_Lib2 folder (can't display it all as my screen isn't big enough)
and I haven't got the folder inside another TT_Lib2 folder. The full file path is this: Macintosh HD/ Library/ Application Support/ Google Sketchup 7/ Sketchup/ plugins/ TT_Lib2/ core.rb Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: [Plugin] QuadFaceTools (0.7.0b) — 08 February 2012That is very strange. I have no idea what is going on here.
...I've noticed lately there's been lots of OSX users with problems due to not sufficient permissions to the plugins folder. Though I'm not really familiar with what they did or what errors they where getting... Thomas Thomassen — SketchUp Monkey & Coding addict
