Opps, forgot to attach it. Yes, I would appreciate if you can see if there are any problems. I am just trying to add the tile roof texture (in Sketchup)on the top side only.

Great plugin.

Im not sure if the author still updates the plugin, but I found out it did not import in blender.
This is because of a small typo in the plugin file at line 374.
Fix the typo and blender will import without a problem.

Quick question. Does this plug-in conflict with other plug ins? I think I found out why I was bug splatting because I have a version of SketchUp (version 8) without many plug ins (my other versions have no conflicts amongst themselves, and are up to date). If someone knows, please advise me. I really like this plug in and I would like to use it on 7.

Firstly, here's your dome mapped without any problems happening. Sorry for late response.

UV_Example.png

Secondly, this is the first reported issue with UV Tools Pro so I imagine the conflict lies elsewhere.

Try removing all plugins except this and test to see if it happens.

Another issue is you modeled the dome completely inside out with all back-faces outwards.
Reverse one and Orient to correct it before trying complex UV mapping tricks - which are intended for front face materials...

Thanks so much! Yes, I am going through the plugins now and now, I think I know the problem. Not purging through LIBFREDO6 purge feature. And also, not deleting the older versions! I probably got sidetracked at the time, and I didn't follow through the instructions. I am glad I can now use this plugin, its so darn helpful!

Good.

From experience, I know installing all these glorious plugins is a must but if when reorganizing you say 'I don't use THAT often' then it needs to go.

It's easier troubleshoot and also it has a calming influence.

I Guess Whaat does not update this plugin anymore.
So here is a fixed version, this will solve the problem with Blender.

Tested with blender 8, LithUnwrap and Blender.

Pleae, read the plugin posting guidelines here:

Whaat is alive and active so he may consider incorporating some changes into his plugin but re-posting verions is not good.

I apologize for not updated this plugin. You should be asking permission before you redistribute any plugins. However, I have decided to include your version in the top post of this thread (hmmmm...I guess I'm now redistributing your plugin... :P  ) if you don't mind.

Thanks for providing a fix. I had tested the plugin with Blender before and I thought it worked fine but I guess I was wrong.

My appoligies, I did not alter anything in the plugin except the fix. (wanted to help the people out that did not know how to fix the plugin)
Because the plugin did not get any update I thought the author did not update the plugin anymore. (last update was a long long time ago)
Next time I will pm the author first.

Thanks for the plugin...Just found it. I am using sketch-up 8 and trying to learn Blender also. I want to be able to texture in blender what I can not in sketch-up the way I want to or that is my main hope. :) I will give it a try soon.

Uv tools to UV layout help

Postby paolo » Tue Jul 17, 2012 12:08 pm

Hi everyone, sorry for the silly question but I'm learning using UV tools by Whaat (thanks a lot to him) with Headus UVlayout although is for Architectural purpose (simple geometry) I wonder if using this method will reduce the file size comparing to editing textures to Photoshop in Sketchup? any way I have a problem when loading the geometry in UVlayout cause some openings do not appear, please see the pictures.
Thanks a lot for any help.

I think there might be a bug with the OBJ export for faces with more than four vertices. Try manually dividing faces into quads before exporting and see what happens?

:o Whaat thanks for your quick reply, it works manually dividing face into quads although is a bit of a pain... I wonder if your SketchUV plugin will do the job 'automatically'.

Sorry, although SketchUV has a nice triangulation feature that will split all faces into triangles, it has a bit of trouble with faces that have 'holes'
