in fact, sometimes it ABSOLUTELY refuses to cut anything... even simple models, be them grouped or completely exploded. It starts creating the line, but I click the other end of the line but the line doesnt goes away... it like if I was not clicking.
Did you delete the old zorro ruby from the plugins folder? That solved the issues I had.

Open the Ruby Console Window and tell me what error message you are getting. Thanks

Dale, when I click on a section cut and select the "Slice Model at Section" nothing happens. I've read the tutorial, but I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I only have Zorro2.rb in my Plugins folder so it can't be a conflict with the original one.
What a great feature this section option is!! I can't wait to get it working.

After you do that Ron, try deleting the section plane. Your model should stay cut in half. I guess that is the desired functionality.

Hi Chris, I tried that but...no luck. I zorro sliced a cube, activated the section cut tool, selected "Slice Model at Section" and erased said section cut, but nothing. I'll keep fiddling around.
Edit: When I erase the section cut the model goes back to being "whole". The section cut always stays normal to the model surface not the Zorro cut.

Have you tried removing all other plugins except the new zorro?

I hadn't thought to do this, but this didn't work either. Funny, I've never had any problems whatsoever installing and using plugins. I'm obviously doing something wrong.
I've invoked the slice-model option with the section cut plane inside and outside the model. I've tried grouping.....I've tried it with both drinking beer and not drinking beer....I've tried everything. Argggg...

So the option to slice the model (or whatever its called) does show up though, right? Try opening the ruby console and the running the slice. See if any error messages come up in the ruby console. If they do, post them here. BTW, what version of SU are you using this on?

Select the plane after the end position and run the script. For me it has nothing to do with zorro

Ahh, I second what burkhaard says. I don't start zorro first or anything. just make a section plane, then right click on it to find the slice option.

Oh, I see. I was thinking you could "zorro" the model in any plane desired and then R-click "slice section" to achieve a section cut normal to that plane.
Apparently this script does NOT work with my beer.
Edit: I changed beer and everything is working fine....Thanks.

Yes, your scene scale is too big. I won't get into the details, but the plugin will fail if you are using a huge scene scale. Your scene is about 10km across!

yup, it was supposed to be a sci-fi city. well, so you suggest that I scale down it. Haha, I cant even begin to understand whats the difference, to the PLUGIN, on the scale of the scene. Thanks for the help!

hey thanx for this, really speeds up the process of making a roof with hard modeled roof tiles the only suggestion i could make is that it explodes and groups everything it cuts through (at least in the case of similar components), because at present it is making separate unique components out of the indidual components it cuts through, increaseing the amount of components intances dramatically, and slowing down the drawing.
i then have to go in select all similar components, invert selection, group those, explode this groups contents and purge unused components, to get my component instances from 400 back to 1.
any thoughts

AWESOME PLUGIN. Especially when used with section cut plane...
Before I would have to explode all geometry and create a plane... then intersect with model, then erase everything I didn't need. On complex models this would take too long so I gave up. Now it took a minute at most on that same model.
Thank you!

Hi, I'm trying to do a section through a simple box just to test but every time I right click, then slice section plane it results in a bug splat. The model could not be more simple so I'm confused as to why it isn't working. Do I need to download another ruby?? I'm currently using SU7 pro

Hi, I think I worked out why it wasnt working. I had a 3ds component (toilet- high poly) in the box shape. Although the section plane wasn't through the component I don't think sketchup could cope with both the component and the procedure of taking a section. Is this normal for the ruby to make sketchup crash when using components? I guess in future projects I'll just take the section first then add components afterwards.
Thanks
Jim

hi there all, bit of a lurker on the forum
But I have to shout major kudos to whaat! You have just saved me mucha mulah! I was thinking about selling my car or something to purchase IRenderXT just to be able to render cut-away views eg 3d plans. As someone said earlier, too much hassel to creat cut sections and then delete what I don't need to take things into Kerkythea. Now hey it is simple as, well I don't think it gets much simpler
One thing though, I can get the section cut through model part working - the major bonus for me. But I literally only get a zoro entry in the tools drop down. According to your screen shots there seem to be some submenus and such, but none of that here. XP SP3 SketchUP 7 free. (Since discovering DoubleCAD I no longer need the pro file exports to go to CAD)
Anyway, a million thanks for something this useful and powerful

I'm confused. I don't think I have posted any screenshots of the menu. There should only be one menu item in the Tools menu. Glad you like the plugin!
