Speed Modelling Challenge #35 - Wooden Toys

Speed Modelling Challenge #35 - Wooden Toys

Postby Rich O Brien » Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:36 pm

So for this modeling challenge we are doing Wooden Toys. The sky is the limit on this one and should produce some barking submissions...

The rules:

- 30 minutes maximum modeling time

- Unlimited preparation time for thinking, sketching, researching but NOT FOR MODELING

- Community will vote for favorite submission at competition end

- Multiple entries are allowed

- Please provide a Wireframe, an Untextured and a Textured image of your model (800x600)

- Please also provide the model as we will compile them with the tree after the comp

- SketchUp output only

- Please be considerate to members with slower connections when submitting images (800x600)

- Any texturing should be done within the 30 minutes

- As enthusiastic as some of you are about rendering, kindly refrain from posting any renderings in the gallery as they could solicit votes, remember this is about modeling, not rendering

- Have fun!

Competition closes on 9/1/2011

I love modelling so much because when I was a kid I used to play with little wooden toys my dad made for me, unfortunately I broke most of them, but the ones that survived I have passed on and like to make my own models now...

Btw Castles and army men FTW!..

Juan,

Your images does not load (it seems they would need logging in at DropBox).

Could you just simply uplaad them here as attachments?
_______

All others above; nice submissions (it's going to be a pain in the rear to vote again...)

Generally speaking, uploading images as attachments would be the most convinient way IMHO.
Messages such as "this image or video has been moved or deleted" are really annoying.
Nevertheless, nice submissions.

+1 :thumb:

Not to speak about some other aspects:
  • some image hosting websites are banned in certain countries (some people in China cannot access a bunch of image sharing sites for example)
  • some images take forever to load in certain countries (imageshack for me for instance - although I have a 15 Mbit/sec broadband connection)
  • heavy, nested images will tax the system of those with narrow internet connection sometimes to thepoint that their machines freeze and they have to quit the page.

I was also wondering what to think when I saw this:

But then it's not a real PR rendering just a "manual" (how it works) IMO so let it go. What do you think?

I believe it should be aloud, it shows the purpose of the toy, just incase somebody says that it isnt a toy..
