Re: Speed Challenge #4I never had time (actually I forgot) to enter the last challenge, so I definatly did not want to miss this one.
30 minutes goes by fast, I had to plan this one before starting, but still never completed the interior (needs steering wheel still) I used sub-divide, JPP, FFD, Round edges by bezier, surface tools and a lot of intersecting. Texturing and rendering was done seperate to 30 minutes. I give you the SKY-RAY
Re: Speed Challenge #4We can safely say we know who'll win the challenge...

Re: Speed Challenge #4Can CAD be used in the prep work?

Re: Speed Challenge #4not if you intend to use any of the CAD drawing geometry in SketchUp. cause that would fall into modeling and had to be included into the 30 minutes.
GUNAWAN, nice car. I really like the curvy shapes
Re: Speed Challenge #4As plot said, as long as you dont use the CAD when your modelling its fine.
Re: Speed Challenge #4I made a 3rd entry:
...I was going to make the wings foldable, but ran out of time. You wouldn't want to be driving in the lane next to it I wish I could add more detail, but I usually just play with things until I like them, so making a car in 30 minutes wouldn't be my forte. I'm surprised that I managed to get it that good, with it still being only around 350kbs! Subdivide .rb was used, as well as round edges by bezier. Re: Speed Challenge #4Good stuff guys, an impressive collection and display of skill.
Re: Speed Challenge #4Here's another entry:
It's based on my 2nd entry, but because I already made one kinda like it, I got through this one a lot earlier, and could add more details, while keeping the file size lower.(after all, models should not be voted for based solely on poly count. In fact, I'd say that keeping quality with a lower file size is a plus) It's landing gear is kinda funny, you would land it at slow speeds, and it has 1 front wheel, then you would brake, you'd slowly turn the back fan off, letting it down on the back bumper thing. After all, a normal, hovering only car would take miles to stop Please, register (free) to access all the attachments on the forums.
Re: Speed Challenge #4Wow, you guys are good. I didn't realize how short a time 30 minutes is.
Flying cars just don't seem possible, but a soaring motorcycle seems doable. The wings and tail would be carried on a single-wheel trailer. The propeller/motor assy folds down and back and its electric motor provides power to the rear wheel. I had planned to model the bike in ground mode, but time was up. I added a bit of fog after the 30 minutes. To save time, most of the airfoil components were reused. That wasn't so easy on the propeller. One blade is backwards. Re: Speed Challenge #4Nice one john, youve produced one of those models that makes me think 'damm, wish id thought of that.'
Re: Speed Challenge #4Heads up guys, this is the last day of this competition, so don't delay use the next half an hour to get your presentation done.
