3D People

3D People

Postby garystan » Sun Jul 01, 2012 11:03 pm

How do I create 3D people to use in Sketchup ?
I've tried looking at the software, but the ones I saw were
VERY expensive ($700 +).
And the downloads that I've seen, they're not exactly the way I want the 3d people to be posed.

Ok there is a freeware program called "make human", u can google it and get a download from there, that's 1 option, but you will need meshlab and autodesks fbx converter to import into SU, both are freewares also, hope this helps :D

You should take a look at Form Fonts. Alan Frazer has made an enourmous collection of 3D people, in just about any pose you could want. Subscription is worth the cost many times over, plus zillions of other high quality components

Nice program! I've tried it and was able to export a collada-file and import in SU without other converters...
A picture is worth a 1000 words. A 3D SketchUp model is worth a (1e3)^2 words?!

I suggest importing into meshlab first to reduce the amount of polys before importing into SU to make it more managable, try it, it works alot more smoothly if you reduce the 29000 polys to 3000 polys :thumb:

Another usefull tool is DAZ 3D. A very professional programm for designing people.
Unfortunately, I don't know how to keep the textures while importing it to sketchup

Pilou :

I looked at 3D Warehouse. Most of the models look like zombies with their arms stretched out.
