BSG Fans, another FRAKING series knocked on the headFor you BSG fans BSG:Blood and Chrome was knocked on the head by the syfy channel, thats just shite, now to become a movie instead, shame really cause the BSG remake was fantastic, the prequel Caprica destroyed all its chances for the future, heres a quick teaser of the movie, looking good anyways

Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headSYFI..is that even a word? The have now as much in common with Science Fiction as my lunch with caviar.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI was really looking forward Blood & Chrome, so it's disappointing to hear that all we are likely to get is a TV movie.
You can't blame SYFY for being cautious after the way many BSG fans reacted to Caprica - which was an absolutely superb series IMO. Last edited by Hieru on Thu Jul 05, 2012 1:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI'll be honest but Caprica didn't do it for me, BSG was just out of this world, I grew up on the old series as a kid and was very sceptic about the remake but it was better than the original, not a common thing with remakes.
I too was looking forward to blood and chrome and judging by the trailer it would of being even better than the remake, but only to be a tv movie is highly disappointing Bring on the Rain...
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the head
Sorry Marian, it was a typo, I fixed it to syfy channel Bring on the Rain...
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI think that the problem with Caprica is that many BSG fans were hoping for more of the same and Ron Moore made the mistake of pitching it as a si-fi soap opera.
In reality what we got was the equivalent to a short story from Asimov's 'Robot Visions'. As a fan of classic sci-fi literature that was a real bonus and something of a relief - I was expecting 'Dawsons' Creek in Space'. Clearly it wrong-footed too many fans and they were unable to adapt to the change of pace and dynamic. They were expecting/wanting the equivalent to a FPS and got a puzzler instead.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI wanted to love Caprica but just could not get into it, was too slow and the story was weak, only action was last episode.
Now Firefly I'd like to see continued, that was awesome.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headFirefly was brilliant, space western, didn't they kill off the characters in a movie a few yrs back, can't see another series being made after that, does anyone remember "space above and beyond" from the mid 90s, I was gutted when they killed off all but 2 characters, then they left it like that.

Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headYeah - two great shows cut down in their prime.
I seem to recall reading that sci-fi and fantasy is usually more popular in times of austerity, but the way things are going - for sci-fi at least - it's all but disappearing from our screens. With Blood & Chrome cancelled and no new shows on the horizon, I think the only thing left is Falling Skies............and I can't see that being allowed to run it's course.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI agree Scifi shows like the above for some reason are lacking, is it a lack of viewers or because of some idiots out there wanting more "reality" based shows?
The last great Scifi's I saw was Stargate -Universe, Star Trek -Enterprise, BSG - Razor and Firefly. I normally wait for them to get to Netflix and watch them all at the same time, I cannot wait a week for the next episode. As for Falling skies, I watched about 4 episodes and got kinda bored with it, still prefer 'The walking dead'.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headThis is a cool project. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/58936338/space-command
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI recommend checking out "revolution" a new series which looks promising, but hey I taught "tera Nova" was promising too but what a fraking disaster that was, falling skies was a good concept but I believe it lacks the umph BSG had and it's going to be very hard to beat, I'm looking forward to seen blood and chrome even thu it's only a movie instead of a series.
Bring on the Rain...
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headYeah, I saw the ads for Revolution, I guess it looks interesting lets hope it does not go Terra Nova on us.
Seen Prometheus yet? I saw it and actually liked it, the ending however seemed a little strange and not needed as the movie could have stood on it's own without linking it to Alien.
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the head@Solo yeah seen Prometheus, I taught it was average, a lot of unanswered questions tho, and indeed it was a very strange ending, I could never understand the opening scene either, with the alien on the top of the waterfall, it baffles me what he does, and the big question at the end, why did they plan on doing what they were doing, don't want to be spoiling it for others but it was worth the watch, excellent in 3D

Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headIt seems scifi games last better than series these days, for example, mass effect, dead space, deux ex revelution and the list goes on, great sci fi games, and the stories so unpredictable, if these games were made as a tv series they proberly take the plunge too, even tho some games where considered for the big screen, like Halo, great game but a movie would just destroy its repertation for sure, scifi games are the alternative to scifi series, and these games do engross you into great stories like BSG, I was a huge fan of Mass Effect, a game which was designed to be a trilogy before they started making it, if this were a series well it would of blowing us out of the water, to think it ends after the 3rd game seems a waste of a sci fi world, I'd like to see it develop more with spin offs or something, this game was also considered to be a movie but a movie can't tell the story like this game did and give the views the same satisfaction a gamer got from the trilogy, I think Marian's link to kickstarter project of space command is the future of sci fi shows and movies since it's suits who don't know anything about sci fi who cancel these shows in the first place for the syfy channel.

Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headI knew about Revolution, but it's not really the same sort of sci-fi. It does look promising though - a mix of Firefly and Jericho.
With Fringe about to end it might have a chance of getting more than one season (it seems like there is a rule in TV land that you can only have one long running J. J. Abrams show on at any one time).
Re: BSG Fans, another series knocked on the headThere is a good example, I heard that the second season for Jericho was cancelled and a huge protest followed where the fans sent peanuts to the producers, tones of peanuts, why peanuts? Don't ask me but the protest sparked something and the second season went ahead, ha what do we send the syfy channel to give blood and chrome the go ahead, maybe send them fraking moron bars,
Bring on the Rain...
Re: BSG Fans, another FRAKING series knocked on the headI thought that they sent peanuts because it was 'nuts' to cancel the show. Weirdly I actually meant to mention Jeremiah, not Jericho.
As for SYFY the US channel apparently shows more wrestling than sci-fi, so maybe used jock straps? Otherwise car air fresheners?........because cancelling the series stinks?
Re: BSG Fans, another FRAKING series knocked on the head
have you not seen the StreetFighter movie with Jean Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue? Probably the greatest game to big screen adaption ever made. Random Govt Guy: Colonel, have you lost your mind? Van Damme: No, you lost your balls
Re: BSG Fans, another FRAKING series knocked on the head
Yeah you said it John, I'm with you, times like this makes me think "I joined the wrong army" Bring on the Rain...
