Separate DPI for screen and printing

Separate DPI for screen and printing

Postby tomasz » Thu Nov 29, 2007 8:59 pm

I would like to have an option to define two independent resolutions for:
- screen (say 75dpi - for easy, faster editing and smaller layout file size)
- printing (say 300dpi)
I have found it quite irritating when having to switch back and forth resolutions
when editing and printing.

I'll add it to our list.

I've been thinking about the issue of saving the high-res graphics to the
layout file. The benefit is you won't have to rerender the image each time
you open the layout doc and print. The down side is, it takes forever to
save and restore the file, plus the layout file gets much bigger.

Any thoughts on these issues everyone?

Thanks Jhauswirth!
Printing is usually 'time consuming', so few seconds more won't cause much headache. In return we will receive faster editing and smaller file sizes = save a lot of space on a company server. Layout could check if ScreenDPI is equal to PrintDPI and if positive just print what is already in memory. It will give more flexibility.

LO2 has edit/output resolution settings.
