Mac - Export individual PDF's

Postby JakeMM » Thu Jun 13, 2019 11:39 am

Currently running Layout 2018 and just waiting for a gap in my workload to update to 2019.

Does 2019 have the ability to export individual PDF's?

Alternatively, does anyone know a Mac program which will take the grouped PDF and export individual pages?

Thanks!

You can export one page at a time as a PDF but it's a manual operation. I believe Adobe Acrobat will still allow you to split pages of a PDF into separate files as well as combine separate PDFs into a single file. There are probably any number of Acrobat copycats that can do the same.

Thanks, I'll have a look for a program.

I've currently been exporting individual pages, but it's a tedious process! Especially when you spot a typo in the title block and have to repeat the process...

Quick update incase anyone find this thread.

On a Mac, click "Applications" then "Utilities". Within that folder is a small robot called "Automator".

This can do a variety of useful repetitive tasks such as reduce the image size from a bulk folder, but I've just discovered it can also split PDF's.

Hopefully this feature will work its way into Layout, but until then - this is a good solution for Mac users!

I was going to mention Automator. It's got a little wonky UI but it works--gives you a new item in the print pdf drop down. What I need is consistent naming of pages out so I don't have to go and rename each file, and this works well enough for that. That way I can automatically update the output images in my PowerCADD document.

I wonder how well the reduction works. The reduction process for Preview is terrible.

The reduction process works very well. It's based off the length of horzontal pixels.

I'll often use it after taking photos my DSLR. I'll set the pixels to 1920 horizontal and can batch export a whole album, which I can then share with my clients on Dropbox without using up too much space.

I then keep the original 6000 x 4000 pixels offline if I need to access them.

I was thinking of pdf reduction, which (I guess) is trickier.
